With the exhibition I hope to see the community become aware of the harmful cycle of socialization, and use use this awareness to develop a road to end socialization. To hear a community member, or a parent say that they develop an awareness to the idea of socialization, would be ideal for me, because we as a freshman class would know that we have brought a new understanding of what makes us, us to our community. Along with that to hear a sociology professor, or someone who has studies sociology say “ I’ve never thought of it that way,” would be a great thing to hear, because they have studied this for a living, and the idea of us showing them that there is a different way to look at it is crazy.
We need to make sure to cite the text from our readings, because most of the article we read were written by sociologists. Meaning they would have the most accurate data for us to display to the audience.

In Humanities we have been planning our exhibition. We have been brainstorming some great ideas over the last two weeks, as of this week we have finally come to an almost completed idea of what we are going to actually be putting together. We now are setting up groups to start composing the exhibition itself. One of the main issues with exhibition that we are trying to address is, how plain, and boring exhibitions can be. We strive for community, and audience interaction.
I am the most excited about bringing the knowledge that we have been obtaining, and bringing it to those of the community. I really would like to work on kind of a mix between PR, and Location Services. I have a lot of experience talking, and planning with people from the community. I really think that reaching out to find an available, and affordable location is where I would fit in best! Working in groups these last few weeks has been sort of chaotic. Although, it helped with getting others very individualized perspectives, it also was difficult for someone like me (that has Social Anxiety) to interact with people from another class that I did not know. I really did enjoy being in a group though. I liked working with others and figuring out a more interactive way to accomplish the same task, but I belive there could have been a better way to seperate the groups out. |
